Hi Randall ,

Another Chase update, born 7/18/09.  His training is going well. Fully house trained. No accidents unless he is not walked on schedule then he may leave a puddle inside if he can’t get out. He is doing well with birds although after a great start he seems to want to play with the bird rather than bring it back. We are working on that one.  He is also fully trained now to come to me when he hears three short whistle blasts. It doesn’t matter what he is doing he comes running. Although I haven’t tried calling him off a bird scent. I don’t want to confuse him. Also introduced him to the gun. No big deal at all. The first shot he heard was at quite a distance and he just glanced over his shoulder and went back to what he was doing. We are continuing the gun training slowly so he associates a shot with the need to go get the bird.

Take care,

Ken Klarfeld

I have been working him in the filed for a while.   Currently it is just getting him accustomed to everything.  Does a great job with retrieving.  He circles nicely.  Ranges out to about 150 yards.  Typically stays within 50 yards of me.  He hunts for me and not himself!  I have had problems with previous dogs (mostly English Setters).  Listens to commands well and learns quickly.    Great personality.  Great house dog.  Plays with the cats, loves kids and other dogs.

Hello, Randall.

I enjoyed meeting you and the choice of getting two pups was worked out. Here is an update: I finally got a chance to take Chester bird hunting. Despite his very limited training, he did quite well. He flushed some quail for me and fetched his first bird. Here is a picture of him on point. Chester is now 9 months old. Gus is 7 months old, and he will probably have his first hunt next weekend.

Randall,

I thought you might enjoy these pictures. Lucy has adjusted well to Montana and Ruger enjoys having a new playmate. As expected my wife just loves her.

Hi this is Mike and Bonnie Adams,

We just wanted to send you an email and a few pictures to let you know how he is doing.  This past year I took him Pheasant hunting in Iowa for the first time and he out done himself, he gave the old dogs a run for their money, my hunting pals were very impressed and couldn't believe how well he done for just being a pup.  Opening weekend we hunted with 10 dogs, all Brittany's and Short Hairs.  He hunted wonderful with the group and by himself through out the year.
Bonnie and the kids love and adore him, he has a lot of personality and character.  Pretty much a clown most the time.  He is an inside dog thanks to the women of the house, they spoil him rotten....but still yet he knows what his job his out in the field.
By the way we weighed him the other day and he is 62 pounds and still growing.
Here are a few pictures of him, I hope you enjoy them.

Sincerely,
Mike and Bonnie Adams

PS.  When my buddies are ready for a new dog they will be coming to see you.
